The PADI Advanced Open Water Diver is the next step for Open Water Divers looking to learn more about scuba diving. The course is comprised of five adventure dives and the corresponding training that teaches you new diving skills and expands your experience level.
The only prerequisite for the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver training course is Open Water Diver certification. Advanced Open Water may in fact be taken immediately after you obtain your Open Water certification. You don’t have to be a PADI diver either, we accept entry level certifications from all agencies.
The Advanced Open Water consists of two required specialties: Underwater Navigation and Deep Diver. Students also complete three additional adventure dives of their choice. Options include:
- Wreck Diver
- Fish Identification
- Drift Diver
- Night Diver
- Peak Performance Buoyancy
- Underwater Naturalist
- Underwater Videographer
For each specialty dive you will review the course materials in the Advanced Open Water workbook and complete knowledge reviews with your instructor before completing your specialty dives.
Many people opt to complete the theory portion of the course online before coming to the island, so that they can spend more time in the water and less time with their heads in the books! To do this, sign up today by clicking on the link below.
After successfully completing your Advanced Open Water Certification, you will have a host of new skills. Some dive operations may also require this certification for divers seeking to do deeper or more challenging dives.
